Eco Art for Children: Nurturing Young Minds & Creativity in Sicily
Eco Art, or environmental art, is art which uses natural materials as a medium. Eco art is made using sustainable practices and inspired by the natural world. Oftentimes the art is created to raise environmental awareness, or address issues such as climate change, pollution or conservation.
At Creative Italy we understand the importance of nurturing young minds and creativity. We believe that by introducing children and young people to art, especially eco art activities, we not only contribute to their own personal growth and development, but also environmental awareness. Nurturing young minds and creativity will undoubtedly have a positive impact for generations to come.

The success of our programme, Creando si impara – By creating you learn has shown that children can really express themselves freely through art. Young people can enjoy being creative whilst developing an understanding of how the materials and objects of modern life impact on the environment around us.
Our young participants gained a real understanding of the importance of recycling, waste reduction, and how everyday objects can be repurposed for our creative endeavours. By developing an understanding of the challenges we face, our youngsters gained a deeper understanding of the natural world, connecting nature with their everyday surroundings.
Our Eco Art Workshops
Emanuela Ravida
Led by talented multidisciplinary artist Emanuela Ravida, our Eco Art workshops for children encourage youngsters to foster their creativity and express themselves through a hands-on approach. A graduate of painting from the Academy of Fine Arts in Reggio Calabria, Emanuela has focussed her artistic activity and research on environmental sustainability through art.

Emanuela recently returned from Taiwan where she demonstrated her innovative ironed plastic technique. Emanuela demonstrated how it is possible to transform plastic into inspiring works of art. Engaging in a cultural exchange, Emanuela’s work encourages conversation around themes of sustainability and the environmental concerns we all face.
Nurturing Creativity
Our workshops are held at Feudo San Pietro, Milazzo Sicily. A historic venue which aims to become a lung for the local area, breathing knowledge, agriculture and heritage to the territory. Children have the option to create collage pieces, story cards and printing. There is also the opportunity to explore the works of Italian artists, Guccione, Ligabue and Mario Schifano – ‘Learning from the Masters.’
Using reused or recycled objects, children will engage directly with the source, learning about the materials, the science behind production, sustainability and the environmental impact.
Workshops are also open to local children, and so those who participate may benefit from the opportunity to work together or alongside children from diverse backgrounds, engaging in a fun cultural collaboration.
Whilst the team at Creative Italy are keen to share the culture, artisans and history of Italy, we are also mindful of the territory and local people who are part of it. It is important that everyone benefits and engages, whether you are a traveling creative or local creative. We are proud to share sustainable, respectful and authentic creative experiences for all to enjoy.
It is vital young people are given the means to express themselves. Being able to communicate thoughts, concerns and emotions through artistic expression is incredibly beneficial. Providing a safe, supportive environment where children can harness their creativity is a vital component to our workshops.
We want young creatives to express themselves freely, learn about the environment and have fun!
Eva Anita’s mother writes…
‘We thank you. Creativity is like music, the more you hear of it, the more you breathe it into the air. As a mother, I can only thank you’
