Lampworking Course in Murano

Where flame becomes precision and form

A course dedicated to the technique of lampworking — where glass is melted, shaped, and refined through the control of fire.

Working one-to-one with an artisan, you will learn how to transform glass rods into detailed objects, developing coordination, timing, and technical skill.

The Course

Working Glass Through Flame.

This course offers a direct and hands-on introduction to lampworking, one of the most precise techniques in glassmaking.

Using a controlled flame, you will learn how to melt and shape glass, gradually developing the ability to create small sculptural forms.

From your first bead to more complex objects, the course progresses step by step, allowing you to build confidence and control while working with a dynamic material.

The craft behind the technique

Lampworking is part of the Venetian glassmaking tradition, developed alongside the broader practices of Murano.

Unlike furnace-based techniques, lampworking allows for detailed and intimate work — using a flame to manipulate glass at a smaller scale.

Historically used to create beads (conterie), decorative elements, and intricate objects, this technique combines technical precision with artistic sensitivity.

Today, it continues to evolve through contemporary applications, while maintaining its strong connection to traditional craftsmanship.
