We have created a basket weaving holiday experience where participants will spend a day with artisans, learning basketry history and gaining an understanding of how to use the techniques in the modern day. Nature becomes our ‘classroom’ as we search mountains and forage along rivers and streams, while learning the qualities to look for when selecting the raw materials needed for a weaving activity.
Once gathered, we will return to our weaving ‘retreat’ – a workshop in specially selected historical residences or agritourism. Here participants will interact with artisans and together they will create a customized basket. Lunch made with local seasonal ingredients will be provided.
From the end of August to the end of October, it will be possible to combine another activity, such as olive and grape harvesting, using the specially made baskets.
The program can be customized according to the knowledge and needs of the participants.
