This five-day immersive retreat invites you to transform these textiles into contemporary, wearable pieces. Guided by expert upcycling artisans, you’ll breathe new life into vintage embroidery while learning how heritage materials can become meaningful fashion.
Held in Sicily, this experience blends sustainability with creativity — merging memory, craftsmanship, and modern design. Whether you bring your own heirloom fabrics or work with provided recycled textiles, you’ll create one-of-a-kind garments that reflect both past and present.
Immersive learning experience
Creative Italy retreats are designed as immersive creative journeys.
Each day you’ll spend around three hours in the studio working directly with textiles — learning upcycled design composition, garment construction, creative inserts, and hand-finishing techniques. You’ll explore principles of conscious fashion while transforming vintage materials into contemporary pieces.
Beyond the workshop, you’ll have time to experience Sicily’s colours, textures, and rhythms — allowing place, culture, and creativity to naturally inform your designs.
A personalised experience
This retreat is offered one-to-one or in very small groups (1–4 participants), allowing the programme to adapt fully to your level and creative goals.
You’ll receive close, hands-on guidance as you develop your personal project — from reworking vintage embroidery to composing garments through patchwork, layering, and hand-finishing. Whether you’re exploring upcycling for the first time or refining an existing practice, the experience supports your individual creative journey.
Destination: Giarre or Milazzo
The retreat takes place in either Giarre or Milazzo, in Sicily, Italy.
Both locations offer a rich blend of Mediterranean landscapes, traditional craftsmanship, and everyday Sicilian life. Surrounded by sea, countryside, and historic towns, Sicily provides constant inspiration — an ideal setting for conscious creativity and slow fashion.
