Overview
This immersive five-day retreat offers a professional introduction to contemporary ceramic practice, guided by an experienced artisan in a fully equipped studio.
Over 15 hours of hands-on workshops (3 hours per day), you’ll explore the complete ceramic process — from raw clay to finished glazed pieces. The programme covers essential techniques, including hand-building, plaster mould-making, surface decoration, and glazing.
Through structured daily sessions, you’ll learn how to model, dry, decorate, and finish your own ceramic objects while discovering the importance of precision, timing, and material awareness. More than a technical course, this experience invites you to reconnect with your hands and rediscover the value of making with intention.
Immersive learning experience
Creative Italy retreats are designed as immersive creative journeys rooted in time, place, and human connection. Each morning from 10:00 to 13:00, you’ll work side by side with the local ceramic artisan in the studio, gradually moving through every phase of the ceramic process — from understanding clay and firing principles to hand-building, mould making, decoration, and glazing.
Rather than following a rigid programme, learning unfolds naturally through practice, conversation, and shared moments in the workshop. As the days pass, you’ll deepen your relationship with the material, the maker, and the territory, allowing technical knowledge and creative expression to grow together — offering a slow, meaningful experience shaped by tradition, presence, and hands-on discovery.

A personalised experience
This retreat is available one-to-one or in small groups (minimum 1 participant) and can be tailored to your level and creative goals.
Whether you’re new to ceramics or already experienced, the artisan adapts the programme to your pace and interests. Personalised packages are available on request, including specialised techniques or focused project development.
You’ll receive close guidance throughout every phase — from shaping and moulding to decoration and glazing — allowing you to build confidence while developing your own ceramic language.
